The idea for the project stemmed from the themes explored in The Twilight Zone, and a desire to further explore the characters once they had been removed from their context. Each subject was chosen and carefully styled in order for each person to fully become a new character – in many cases, one they had never seen or experienced previously. The lighting, and later the printing style, were chosen in such a way that they would reference the original series and its trademark ambiance and psychological tension. By rendering the portraits using the Platinum Palladium process, each one becomes a unique, irreproducible object.

Whether or not the viewer has any knowledge of the character portrayed, the images allow for the creation of a new narrative, and discussions of issues such as identity, beauty, aging and truth.
